Interval House

Interval House is a 20 bed shelter providing both security and supports for women both with and without children who are fleeing violence.

             Since 1995 the house has had no increases in funding even though
               costs have grown exponentially:
                   -more women and children using the services,
                   -we are often house more than 20 women and children at one time
                   -increase in utility costs,
                   -increase in food costs

             However,   DID YOU KNOW?

The Provincial Ministry of Community Family Children Services funds only 75% of the capacity, not 75% of the cost. The Provincial Government expects Interval House to raise the rest. The City of Hamilton used to help with funding  when they  were over 75%capacity. However, without much notice, the City of Hamilton changed this.  This has left the shelter  with an unexpected funding shortfall of approximately $70-80,000.00 per year!!!

The staff has responded by forming the first every dragon boat team for Interval House.  They are seeking your sponsorship in helping to raise our shortfall.  For each donation of $20 or more Interval House can offer a tax receipt.  They are also looking for a sponsor for the  team.

Lively Dragon is collecting $5 donations to help buy Easter gifts for the families at Interval House.  Please bring your donations to practice.
