Lively Dragon Gear

We are very pleased to supply & Manage the 2007 Heart Lake Festival

Lively Dragon provides clean high quality equipment for you and your client’s enjoyment. Lively Dragon people are paddlers who understand the value of a smile, a positive word, participates are here to race and have a good time; our job is to ensure they do.
Paddles:

• We provide competition quality paddles for your event; these paddles are lighter than the club paddles and very much appreciated by both your competitive and recreational paddler. Our paddles are maintained and inspected on a regular bases ensuring quality.

Lifejackets:

• Our life jackets are all matching with a dragon logo on the back. Having the racing dragonboats on the back of the jackets enhances the hype and feel. Say good-bye to those smelly mildewed jackets. We wash our jackets by hand on a regular bases. We pay attention to how they are stored. Fresh clean jackets for you.

Steering oars:
• We went to sea faring folk for this one. Our steering oars are custom made from clear Ash and Oak for us in Nova Scotia. They are very strong with a good solid feel. Created from multi laminates of wood keeping them straight and true.

Heads and Tails:
• Our heads and tails are light and colourful fabricated from fiberglass with several individual floatation chambers inside. Each head and tail is designed with your event in mind. They are almost indestructible, each unit is designed to pivot away rather than break. This makes the odd bump with a dock or boat problem free helping keep the flow of your event on time. This flexible attachment is a great safety feature, in the event of a collision between boats the head is easily pushed aside by paddlers on the other boat. If a head or tail is damaged during your event there is no cost to you. The horns on our dragons are bright, festive and also not breakable.

RDY Dragon boats:
Fast, smooth, easy handling. I could go on and on, we are very proud of our boats.

What makes RDY Boats unique? 550 lb of pure paddling pleasure

• An RDY dragon boat is 41 feet long designed to conform to the IDBF standards. The boats have a ten seat layout with buoyancy chambers fore and aft. The boats have excellent balance making it easy for team captains to trim their boat for that perfect awe inspiring race! We know how teams love to have fast times.

• Steering an RDY boat is a dream. The boats handle very well having a smooth transition into and out of turns. This makes it far easier for a steers person to maintain a straight and true course and if needed correct an error during a race. The steers person’s platform is large and level with a skid free surface, specifically designed with the cox in mind.

• The RDY boat was designed for open water lake conditions. The hulls are foam core construction that compliment the floatation chambers that are positioned at either end of the boat. This added buoyancy enhances the boats performance even when it has taken on water. The drum, constitutes an additional floatation chamber at the bow of the RDY boat, it is designed to assist righting the boat in the event of a capsize. These added features enhance the safety and speeds recovery of participants and boat if there is an upset during your event.

• As well as these safety features, the boat has convenience features that are not found in any other dragon boat in the world! Water bottle holders are a unique characteristic of the RDY boats. Seems like an insignificant trait for a boat to have. However, when you remember that during a practice the paddlers are working hard for usually an hour or more at a time in the boat… the holders are much appreciated by everyone!

• Safety and comfort is foremost in the RDY boats. The inside bottom of the hull has a skid free surface. Even the seats are skid free. This enhances the paddler’s stability while paddling and safety while paddlers are loading the boats. Stepping from a wet dock into a boat can be treacherous however; the skid free surface helps paddlers to be sure footed.
