Hi Ramsay,

Got some pic's for you from the Arafura Games recently held in May 2001 in Darwin, in the Northern Territory at the top end of Australia. The Arafura Games is held every 2 years in Darwin for Australian & Asian-Pacific teams with a broad range of sports. The races are of 500m duration and take place in Darwin Harbour, quite a beautiful location and not a crocodile in sight! This year was the first time, in it's 12 year history that the Arafura Flame came into Australia by Dragon Boat (woo-hoo) escorted by 8 dragon boats with paddlers from the Northern Territory, Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Singapore Police, Macau (China) & Dragons Abreast - a very special team always in bright pink comprised of lady paddlers that are survivors of breast cancer. What an exciting and tremendous moment for Dragon Boating in Australia. The 3 pic's are; 1)Sydney Tsunami DB Club members (myself on the left) 2)Boats bringing the Arafura Flame into Australia 3)The very happy paddlers having a rest after the paddle! Harmony, co-ordination, and team-work at its very best! ===== Regards Linda Dowdall Club Secretary Sydney Tsunami Dragon Boat Club Res; 02 9548 1990 Mob; 0404 270 016 email; linda_dowdall@yahoo.com.au

Truly incredible dragon boating in the orient.  Visit the pictures at the following links!  Talk about die hards!  *smile*

Vincent Lo of Vancouver, BC, builds this particular pool boat: http://www.616.ca/

When you're in Edmonton next, look us up, and we'll take you to the pool!  The resistance is twice that of regular paddling, even with perforated paddles at half-depth catch, so it's a good workout.  I would say that the pool boat experience is a 60% emulation of the real thing.

p.s. it is -32 Celsius here today, 0 Farenheit.   I hope it's warmer in Chilliwack.
