Lively Dragon River Run
Cayuga to Dunville, October 13, 2007

Here is some feedback from people who participated in the 6th Annual Lively Dragon Grand River Run!  It was a beautiful sunny day with over 100 people enjoying a 27km paddle !!

Thanks for organizing the river run, sorry about the glitches in the morning. 2 of our drivers getting lost on the way to Dunville didn't help. I guess the most important thing to focus on is that everyone arrived there and returned home safely. We had fun, hopefully your afternoon run went well.

I just wanted to write and thank you and Ramsey for a great experience at the River Run yesterday! The event was so well organized and it was great to see so many people brought together by a love for dragonboating and food! :)

I had an amazing time (which I am reminded of whenever I move...)! And Ramsey was an entertaining and educational steersman! (he taught us a lot about why its important to be environment friendly)

Thank you both for letting us know about it and for all of your time and effort to making the event a success!

Take care! :)

Hi Jackie and Ramsey:
On behalf of Dragons Abreast, I want to thank you again for providing the opportunity for us to have such a wonderful time yesterday.  We really had a lot of hearty laughs, and we felt a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

Please pass on our "thanks again" to Doug too for steering one of our boats.

Here's the start of a message that I sent out to the Dragons Abreast Team (about 116 people):

The Grand River Run was definitely grand!  We – 14 of us – had a wonderful time with lots of good laughs.  Plus we did it!!  We paddled 27 km down the Grand River on a lovely, blue-sky, sunny autumn day.

Apparently not all our guests (12 friends and family joined us) thought that it was a “leisurely” paddle –they all have a lot more respect for us now, yes, they do!!

I suspect that next year you'll have a lot more of us (I hope you think that's a good thing :-) ), and we may even find some takers from some of the other survivor teams in the area too.  In addition, I ran into one of my fellow Seneca College paddlers on Wednesday.  When I told him I was going on the River Run, he got very excited about it - so next year I'll give the information to the Seneca College teams too.

Have a wonderful off-season, and we'll look forward to seeing you again next year.  We'll be back for the 2000-metre race too!

Cheers,

Lorraine
